Position Announcement: Program Assistant 

PLEN – the Public Leadership Education Network – is a national organization working to prepare women for public leadership.  PLEN’s six annual Washington programs serve hundreds of women college students each year.  PLEN programs give students from across the country the opportunity to experience a first-hand view of the policy process with women leaders acting as their teachers and mentors.  PLEN is a non-partisan, 501 (c) 3 organization.

Responsibilities
Assist with all aspects of planning, organizing and conducting PLEN’s programs, including:

·
         Act as PLEN liaison with students prior to their arrival to prepare them for PLEN’s programs
·
         Process all student registrations and payments
·
         Assist with the identification and scheduling of speakers for all PLEN programs
·
         Assist with the preparation of program materials for students and speakers
·
         Assist with the expansion and maintenance of the PLEN website and database
·
         Serve as liaison with hotels and other vendors, create rooming assignments for programs
·
         Provide general office support
·
         Respond to inquiries for information by phone, email and mail in a timely manner
·
         Monitor office supply usage and order office supplies
·
         Provide administrative support for major events & fundraising 

Qualifications
Required:

·
         Undergraduate degree
·
         Enthusiasm for and commitment to women’s issues and/or programs
·
         Excellent oral and written communication skills
·
         Internet research skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Dreamweaver and email software
·
         Strong organizational and follow-through skills
·
         Ability to interact and work with diverse groups of people
·
         Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously 

Preferred:
·
         Program and/or conference planning experience, either paid or volunteer
·
         Previous office work experience
·
         Experience with PLEN programs
·
         Familiarity with website development and/or design
·
         Familiarity with database design and management
·
         Familiarity or interest in the legislative process, politics and public policy
