www.fair.orgFAIR, the national media watch group, has been offering well-documented criticism of media bias and censorship since 1986. As an anti-censorship organization, we expose important news stories that are neglected and defend working journalists when they are muzzled.

Making Face, Making Soul
chicanas.com/Provides an introduction to Chicana and Chicano cultures and issues in Chicana feminisms through a collection of educational, cultural, and political resources.
National Association for Chicana/Chicano Studies
clnet.ucr.edu/research/NACCS/The National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies (NACCS) was founded in 1972 to encourage research to further the political actualization of the Chicana and Chicano community. NACCS calls for committed, critical, and rigorous research. NACCS was envisioned not as an academic embellishment, but as a structure rooted in political life.
From its inception, NACCS presupposed a divergence from mainstream academic research. We recognize that mainstream research, based on an integrationist perspective emphasizing consensus, assimilation, and the legitimacy of society's institutions, has obscured and distorted the significant historical roles class, race, gender, sexuality and group interests have played in shaping our existence as a people. Our research confronts these perspectives and challenges the structures and ideologies of inequality based on classist, racist, sexist, and heterosexist privileges in society.

Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance
orgs.unt.edu/fmlaThe UNT Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance is one of many nationally affiliated feminist campus groups of the Feminist Majority Foundation's campus program. FMLAs form a permanent network of young feminist activists committed to working for social justice and equality. Through participation in and organization of educational events, members develop strong leadership skills, learn about issues facing women in the 21st century and work towards the advancement of women on the UNT campus and throughout the world.
Meets Mondays at 4:30 in the Environmental Sciences Building Room 110.
Women's Center
www.unt.edu/sac/women.htmThe Women’s Center works with organizations in the university and Denton communities to provide resources and services that enhance the experience of all our students by contributing to an academic atmosphere in which positive role models are highly visible and gender bias and inequities can be addressed and eradicated.
The Center acts as a central coordinating agency for campus and community groups, and offers opportunities and events that promote a broader understanding of the diverse experiences and ideas of women. The Center offers dynamic programs that enhance the educational experience of all our students, and provides resources and services that will help the women of our community to grow and develop personally and professionally.

Ally Program
orgs.unt.edu/allyTHE ALLY RESPECTS ALL PEOPLE REGARDLESS of age, color, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, and veteran status.
All UNT employees and students are expected to be respectful of equity and diversity. The person displaying this identification has completed ally training and has pledged to listen and be understanding.
Our goal is to achieve a campus culture where every person can study or work in an environment free from discrimination and harassment. If you are located on the UNT campus, you too can be part of this important work. In less than two years, 125 persons at UNT have been trained as allies.
Students for Choice
orgs.unt.edu/choice/index.htmWe the members of Students for Choice, find that women have protectable interests in life, health, and well being. In an ideal society there would be no need for abortion. Students for Choice ultimately seeks to end the need for abortion services by working to eradicate racism and sexism, promote contraception, quality reproductive health care and comprehensive, responsible sex education.
Gay and Lesbian Association of Denton
orgs.unt.edu/GLAD/home.htmlGLAD is one of the largest student organizations, surpassed in size only by a few sororities, fraternities, and honor societies. The GLAD programming and planning agenda are currently set by an approach designed to examine, enhance, and improve the emotional, social, political, educational, and spiritual lives of Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals and Transgendered people in our community.
A key aspect of GLAD's success is its increasing visibility and the growing support it receives from the university. When GLAD was first founded, Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals, and Transgendered people in the North Texas community kept their visibility low. Increasingly, people are coming-out of the closet and serving as example to their friends. GLAD's visibility enables its members to be more out, and, in turn, the visibility of its members allows GLAD to have increasing influence within the university and surrounding community.
